Drink This: Tumeric

I visited my local Pressed Juicery the other morning for their bundle deal, which came with a tiny "Vitality Shot" made with Tumeric, lemon, and coconut water. It tasted delicious but left me wondering, why is Tumeric beneficial to my health?

It turns out that Tumeric is part of the ginger family and also the main spice in curry. It's known as the most powerful herb in existence for fighting (and possibly even reversing) disease. One of the 200 compounds that make up Tumeric is curcumin, which gives it the orange color. This compound amazes scientists due to its healing properties, specifically in warding off Alzheimer's disease and diabetes.

Tumeric is known best for its anti-inflammatory properties that help fight acne, arthritis, and even cancer. It's also been used as an alternative for pain-killers and anti-depressants. In ancient times, it was used to fight the indigestion, throat infections, common colds, and even to heal skin sores.

By adding lemon and coconut water, Pressed Juicery created a hydrating and nourishing drink that is also antibacterial and fights free radicals. I've decided to consciously add Tumeric to my daily diet. I am looking for a good supplement. I'll let you know what I find!
