Coffee of the Week: Birch
Today I visited the ever-popular Birch Coffee. They have locations all over NYC but I went to the West Village location. One of the founders, Paul, is a yogi, so it's no wonder that I vibed with the ambiance of the shop. It's very relaxed and the baristas are super talented and helpful. They have a huge book selection and even some fun "conversation cards" to promote conversation between strangers, which is so refreshing in this day and age. For my drink, I decided on the Guatemala San Sebastian which is a medium-bodied roast with hints of caramel, cherry and cocoa. I added hemp milk because very few other coffee shops in the city offer it!
Hemp milk is so good for you. One 8-ounce glass contains:
- 900mg Omega-3 Fatty Acid.
- 2800mg Omega-6 Fatty Acid.
- All 10 Essential Amino Acids.
- 4 grams of Digestible Protein.
- 46% of RDA of Calcium.
- 0% Cholesterol.
- Phosphorous and much more!
The best part about Birch is that they embrace sustainable practices and products. They even deliver their cold brew via bicycle--and apparently Chelsea Clinton is a fan.
