SELF Magazine #UpNOut Studio
As a correspondent for Guest of a Guest, I had the opportunity to cover one of the hottest fitness events of the year, SELF Magazine's UpNOut Studio. Hosted at Spring Studios in New York City, the event is a two-day long fitness "extravaganza" that combines the top fitness classes from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Vancouver and London with superstar trainers, the latest athleisure styles, post-workout beauty, and healthiest bites!
Being a part of #TeamSELF was an awesome experience. I got to choose from over twenty fitness classes, such as cycling with Swerve, Yoga with Y7, Meditation with MNDFL, intense movement with Skinny Bitch Collective, and rowing with City Row. I ended up choosing a cardio-blasting hip-hop dance class with 305 Fitness.
Named after Miami's area code, 305 Fitness is a dance cardio workout based in New York City with other studios in DC and Boston. Each class combines high-intensity rhythmic cardio, sports drills (like sprint intervals) and sculpting. During the 55-minute class, a live DJ bumps the latest club tracks and keeps the lights low. The experience was just like dancing at a real Miami club, and by the time I left, I was drenched in sweat. I definitely feel closer to having a dancer's body!
Post-class I headed to the UpNOut Lounge, where I enjoyed a mini-massage, foam-rolling workshop, and healthy treats from Juice Press, Propel, and ThinkThin. There were plenty of photo-ops, including an Instagram Boomerang studio set up by Jessica Simpson's The Warm Up, so I made sure to get my hair done at the Batiste Style Lounge!
The Batiste Style Lounge featured expert stylists who helped me choose the best dry shampoo for my hair. I loved the scent of the "Fruity & Cheeky Cherry" dry shampoo and the light color of the "Light & Blonde" dry shampoo, but I ended up choosing the "Clean & Light Bare" because it was so simple yet smelled freshly-washed. I chose a high ponytail with a braided crown, and it turned out to be a super chic/slightly grunge look! I was amazed that my sweaty, oily hair (after an ass-kicking cardio class) was transformed in under 10 minutes! Batiste dry shampoo for the win.
Upon exiting the UpNOut Studio, I was treated to a goody bag full of great products from sponsors such as Yogi Tea, Suave Professionals, Nature's Bakery, Vega, and GEICO. I will definitely be back next year!
