Gotham Gym G-BOX

For those of you who didn't already know, I am a first-degree black belt. I began practicing karate in 1997 at the age of 6! I earned my black belt at 13 and I was teaching classes at 15. Karate taught me so much about the human body and how to honor and protect the mind, body and soul.

Since moving to NYC, I haven't practiced karate ONCE, so when famed Gotham Gym's G-Box invited me to come try a class, I was super excited.

Founder and owner Rob Piela opened the original Gotham Gym in 2011, and it has been a hot spot ever since, with A-list clients such as Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper.  G-Box is quickly following in it's footsteps.  Located in the heart of SoHo, the studio is incredible, featuring a sunken basement-level boxing ring and a projector playing Mohammad Ali film clips on a loop. Upon entering, I immediately felt stronger!

The workout was incredible--it was the most intense workout I've done since moving here. G-Box combines heavy cardio with resistance-training partner work (think: one student holding pads and the other punches continuously into them.) I could not breathe by the end! My muscles were burning and I felt as though I had burned 1,000+ calories in one hour. I loved the results and I definitely plan on returning.  I am not surprised that they have clients like Model Lounge NYC, DNA Models, and New York Models.
